This fall, the urge to lay words over paint really took over. I’ve sort of given up on the drawing aspect of painting that I undertook at the beginning of the year. This has let me appreciate playing with colour and shape a bit more, not fussing over how it turns out.
The words laid over top are bits and pieces that have come from months and months of jotting down ideas and reworking dozens and dozens of verses. While I am saving the larger, more complex pieces for another project, these are some of the smaller, more spontaneous pieces that took on a life of their own recently in the midst of a bit of life drama.
I wanted to share a bit of the work since I have been off the radar here and on socials since the beginning of the summer. There’s much to share. For now, I’ll leave you with these pieces of my heart.
It is lovely to have you back. I love the idea of writing over backdrops of colour like this.
